I am going for a black and red theme for my wedding. The red isn’t really a blood red that I have in mind but it is more of a black/red. I want the flowers to be red roses with black in them. And I am really not sure what the color is called for the bridesmaid dresses. I want to see if the bridesmaid dresses should be black with the red/black roses or if they dresses sould be that dark red also…I need help!!!
What color am I looking for my bridesmaid dressed and flowers?

I’d go with dark red dresses instead of black and red.

I think a maroonish dark red. You could try to find some with a black sash/bow around the waist

I think having the dresses be red would be nice. I think black will look too dark.

go to a fabric store and look for a sample swatch, or find some thread that color and it will have a name of the color on it. I think you mean burgandy though…its a deep reddish purply color.

i would do a dark red, but with either white or off white flowers if you dont want any white, go with black dress with red flowers you dont want the bridesmaids flowers to be just like yours, make them somewhat different

I think Black is a great option. Its very elegant and classy and looks good on everyone. It will be hard to find the perfect color red for dresses and with black, they are easier to wear again… Congrats and good luck!

It sounds awfully dark and Addams family-ish. Why not use bright red roses instead of black-red? The bridesmaids should wear red with black trim.

I think you may be looking for maroon or wine or claret perhaps? If you look at the bridesmaid dress section of the Alfred Angelo website, it will give you an option to click on different colours and see the dress in that colour. See what you think and get the name of the colour.

Try wine. Look at the wine color option in this chart for this dress

Maroon or wine. You can always just buy white roses and dye them any color you want. The dresses should be the same color red but they can have black accents. A sash, buttons, hemline, black tulle peeking out from underneath. You can get very creative.

I am in a similar predicament.
Think about the groom/male outfits and what colour the waiscoats, buttonholes will be etc.
Also look at the venue, if it is quite dark too you may want to go for the red.
Finally your dress is the most important. Pick out detail from that and use it for the bridesmaids, i.e. sash, bows, stitching etc.
good luck

What a coincidence. I just attended a black and white wedding. At first, I thought it would be rather gloomy, but it turned out to be very beautiful. The bride wore white, the bridesmaids wore black dresses and carried white flowers. The motif was continued in the candles and other decor.
So, I think black dresses for your bridesmaids would be nice. Don’t make them too dowdy and old-fashioned. A demure though flirty off-the-shoulder design would be nice. Then give them the red flowers, mixed with a few white and black ones and white and black ribbons, to give them more contrast with the black.
Make sure the groomsmen wear black tuxedos with red boutoneires and cummerbunds that match the flowers. the bridesmaids will be carrying.

Think taffeta red from Gone with the Wind, it has a rich sheen that flexes a radient yellow or blue.
Or think red in a sheer fabric or black in a sheer fabric with red ribbon, it’s hot and you want them to be comfortable. Not-to-mention, it will float and shimmer – always a pretty effect. Too many people go for heavy fabrics.
Check out the movie “Because I said so” for some simple inspiration and great laughter.

I think black dresses would be very classy. Most any style of dress comes in basic black. Maybe your MOH could wear the shade of red you wanted. I also like the suggestion of having the black with the red sash. It would also be nice if each attendant wear a dress of her choice (by same vendor with same fabric type). That way they will have purchased something they actually like and can wear it again. Once you get a swatch of the color red you want. You will know what color rose looks best. Check out a local bridal boutique and ask to see color swatches from various vendors.

I think the black dresses with the black Magic would be stunning, accent the bouquets with a little bit of black satin ribbon…
