what color flowers for a new years eve wedding?

I’m getting married on NYE and I’m not sure what colors to use. Red is pretty straight forward, but I don’t want to just be red. I’m pretty sure, my bm’s will wear black dresses, possibly a very dark blue. I am meeting with a florist in a week and I don’t have a clue. All the pictures I see are bright summery weddings. Help!

Wedding finances: should we wait 1.5 years as planned, or extend the engagement?

My finance and I got engaged last weekend after being together for six years. I am going into my second year of teaching and have a decent savings. He is finishing his last year of college and has little to no savings. We are not anticipating financial help from either of our families., so basically the wedding spending is on us. Or rather, me. We’ve discussed several options, but in the long and short of it, my fiance said he is going to leave the decision making to me because the money we’d be using is in my possession. We originally planned on a 1.5-2 year engagement, but have been discussing Fall 2010. His grandfather has leukemia and has requested we marry before he dies. (Sigh.) So that is another aspect we are trying to factor in. I am frustrated that we are in this position where I will be paying for our wedding. I am not sure how I will feel about it in the future, and I don’t want to feel resentful, esp. starting off our marriage. We have agreed that if I do end up paying for the wedding, that we will BOTH be contributing to replace the money we used once he is employed after graduating. Here are some ideas we have thought of:
-proceeding with Fall 2010, using a combination of my funds and perhaps taking out a loan (which I think is not such a good idea…why take out the loan when you don’t need to?)
-proceeding and having a simpler wedding
(We just found out today that even getting a church is going to cost around 1,000, which I am blows me away!)
-waiting the extra year so that my fiance can also contribute more
I’m not sure if there are other options, and I’m not sure what kind of consequences each choice will have. Any ideas or enlightenment on the situation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Should I postpone a Nicotine screening for life insurance after smoking 2 cigarettes in 7 years?

I quit smoking in 2002 and indicated such information on a recent life insurance application. Last Saturday, I was at a wedding with a few old friends and had 2 cigarettes outside with them (which by the way, my mouth felt horrible the next day). Should I postpone changing life insurance? I am to test next week (it will have been 12 days).

August of 2007. So, 3 years total we were together. We met here in Seattle, and then after one and a half years she decided to move out to a small town in Ohio where her mom lives to be near her mom. I went along like a p-whipped fool. We talked about moving back to Wa State, and she agreed. I proposed to her, she said yes, we sent out lots of invitations, almost 100, and had a medium sized wedding last Aug. in Ohio. I had trouble finding work in my field there (computers) and took minimum wage type jobs to pay the bills. She got a job in the insurance field. To make a long story short, she said that she wanted to stay there because of the slower pace of life, cheaper living costs, etc, and because she was getting promotions at work. I was laid off of my job and got depressed even more, began to drink more, I felt isolated there, as all my friends were in Wa State, where I grew up. Our marriage got worse, we argued, she threatened divorce several times, and then finally
her and her mom bought me a one way ticket back to Seattle and I flew back 10 days ago. I’m 34, and moved back in with my parents. I shipped all my belongings in boxes through the US Post Office mail. Anyway, she’s going through with the divorce, it’s called a no-contest divorce, because we didn’t have any kids together, or property or anything. I’m allergic to cats, and to seal the deal, she just got a cat last week from the humane shelter there. I was so depressed when I got back to Seattle. The place has changed even in 2 years, way too over-populated and expensive. I begged for her to take me back, but she won’t. My depression comes in big waves. Sometimes I’m suicidal, but I don’t think I would kill myself over a girl. We were born one day apart, my birthday is July 25th, hers is July 26th, we are both Leo’s, both firesigns, but I’m 4 years older. I have heard that 2 firesigns don’t mix. Anyway, can someone give me positive words. I’m so depressed. I was with her for
the past 3 years, and it’s like I’m numb now. I don’t want to do anything, don’t want to work, barely want to get out of bed. I’m pissed off all the time. I don’t even look at other women or even have any kind of sex drive, it’s like I’m numb. How can I snap out of this funk. I used to be a very happy kid growing up.
Should I be upset with my friend over my bridal shower/wedding from two years ago?

My friend got married 2 months before me. I went to all her bridal events, shower and attended her wedding and reception which was 5 hours long. I even went over to her house to help make wedding favors for the reception.
My friend was upset that she would have to miss her church service to go to my wedding since we had it on a Sunday! Then she tried to flake on my shower because her friends were having a party that night and she didn’t want to miss it. She ends up showing up in a bad mood to my shower, gives me unwrapped shower gel and leaves before everyone else and says, “Nice party” all sarcastically. Then she goes to my wedding and leaves after being there an hour!
We have been friends of 10 years and since this happened I have been distancing myself from my friend and I only talk to her on email now.
Do I have a right to be upset and push my friend away? My friend “doesn’t understand” even after I explained it to her.

We recently decided after months of talking about it that we want to have a small wedding next month. We told our families and everyone was very supportive. Well his mom called him yesterday and had a long conversation with him saying it was an aweful idea and no one on either side supported our decision. We have always wanted a summer wedding and they all knew this. We have been together for 8 years and wanted to get married on our anniversary. Now because of all this doubt e thinks we should postpone the wedding after paying for everything. He is just thinking a few months maybe a November wedding but since the beginning we always wanted a summer wedding. I am feeling really hurt right now and don’t know what to do. I don’t know why he let everyone come between us. He says he would marry me anytime but he doesnt want everyone to feel awkward to use his mother’s terminology.
I have told him. Thats when he said that he would marry me tomorrow if he had the choice. Well he does have the choice but lets his mom get involved.

It is not a shotgun it was about 6 months of planning that they were not a part of. And as I said before everything is paid off. We paid cash for everything which makes it tough because moving it would cause us to lose our deposits. It was only a small family event with a jp to begin with until his mom decided we had to invite all nine of her siblings and all 27 of his cousins. Then she pulled this on us.
