Hey guys, I am loving this Yahoo Answers for wedding ideas. I feel bad for people who did not have such a luxury twenty years ago getting married. Anyway, my wedding will be in my hometown of Huntington, West Virginia at an old village that takes you back to the way of life in the 1800s. The wedding and reception will be in a beautiful log church and then a big log banquet hall. My flowers, roses, and my colors, red and white. I love the idea that some people had for drinking tea from mason jars, using red and white napkins in baskets to hold biscuits and other bread. I do want it to go along with the old-fashioned 1800s theme, but I don’t want to go overboard with the whole country-theme. In other words, no hay bails or overalls, lol. Can you guys suggest some elegant, old-fashioned ideas for centerpieces/decorations? I was thinking that each centerpiece does not have to be the same, right?
He is fine in the bedroom. I am talking about, how do I encourage him to do something romantic for no reason other than surprizing me? Buy a card, or something to show me he is thinking of me more often? He did a little something for me for my birthday and Christmas, and last year I got roses on Valentine’s Day. This year not even a cheap card. We have been married less than a year and dated for less than a year before that.
I planned for weeks before Valentine’s Day last year and for his birthday last year to make sure I had things bought and a special cake made for each and gifts delivered, etc. For Christmas I got him a few things and I tried, even though I did not have much money.
Its not even something expensive that I want, just little reminders and something to show me he is thinking of me…he and I are of different backgrounds, so I need a way to explain to him that I want to know he thinks of me and want holidays acknowledged BEFORE OUR 1 YEAR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY comes up. I don’t want to be sad, I want to be happy on that day.
Any ideas of how to encourage him to show me (even is small ways) that he appreciates me on the special occasions?

When engaged couples used to consider wedding reception sites, their options were quite a bit more limited than they are these days. Not everything has changed however, since when a couple decides to marry these days the first question is usually when, then where to hold the ceremony, and then where to have the reception. The difference now is that when it comes to where to hold the ceremony and reception, the sky is the limit.
A huge factor in the flexibility of where to hold the reception is the internet. For destination weddings, anywhere in the world will do and the world wide web provides views of countless locations that are perfect for a dream event. From windswept mountain tops to ancient pyramids, locales abound for receptions and celebrations. A search on the web for unique wedding reception sites results in a staggering list of possibilities, most of which have full color photos and links to helpful local logistical support. Narrowing down the possible locations is advisable by including key words in your search like “beach wedding” or “classic church” so that you’re not inundated by results to the point of being overwhelmed.
Another big change in wedding planning and choices is the improvement in communication technology. In the past, if you wanted to have a wedding in an exotic locale, you needed to communicate with possible venues by land line during their business hours or fax them if you wanted to reach them faster than regular mail. With the advent of email and cell phones, reaching a waterfront hotel in the Yucatan to discuss menu options is a snap. For many locations, there are helpful tourist bureaus that provide regular email updates that detail local events so that you’re always in the know about when is the best time for your own special day.
Lastly, the ability of wedding coordinators and planners to provide amenities no matter how remote the location is part and parcel of modern weddings. Having 100 people for a picnic near a waterfall in Hawaii? No problem. Need jeeps and tents for 50 people for an African savannah event? Can do! No matter where you choose to have your reception, today’s wedding pro’s can handle it. With all the changes in the world, having this wonderful flexibility in wedding reception sites is one of the best.
Wedding planning is a skill and nearly an art. While some people try their best to handle the details on their own, most successful weddings have several people in the mix. From mothers to professional wedding planners, there are so many details and decisions involved in the big day that it’s wise to share the load among many. There are a number of different areas that must be considered when creating the wedding of your dreams.
While location and the dress are indeed a large part of the wedding, as are the invitations, the flowers are a major part of the event. Meeting and deciding upon a florist early on in the process ensures that you’ll have beautiful flowers for the wedding. Be sure and note if you need boutonnières for the groom and his men, a garland for the flower girl’s hair or petals for the flower girl to scatter. It’s usually traditional for the mother of the bride and the groom to get corsages as well.
When in the midst of wedding planning the menu for the reception is another detail that couples tend to put off until later or sometimes too late. The day before the event is a bit late to let the chef know that you abhor chicken and want none of it served, or that the mother of the groom is allergic to mushrooms. Meeting with your cake designer early on in the process and making sure that you’re scheduled with them is quite important as cakes don’t keep and they’ll need to keep the day of and the day before your wedding clear for your event.
Another area that tends to fall through the cracks is transportation. While many couples handle their own transportation to and from the venue, the truth of the matter is that for larger weddings, having parking available and signs up to direct guests to parking will greatly improve the mood of your well-wishers. Few things are more uncomfortable than walking eight city blocks to a wedding in high heels because the parking was either unavailable or you simply could not find it.
Wedding planning can be a bit hectic, especially if you’re handling it on your own. Be sure and start early and get help and support along the way and your special day will be everything you want and nothing that you don’t.
It is needless to point out what importance do marriages have in our lives. It is one of the most important turning point in one’s life â nothing remains the same, everything around the person, within person and within the couple changes and gets a new definition in life. And this new change, new sweetness in life begins and gets consecrated with wedding cakes.
That’s right. Wedding cakes are no ordinary cakes, especially for the couple getting married. Not just because it is their cake â the one that was created for their wedding day, but also because it embodies the fun, the happiness and the sweetness they are going to fill in each other’s life. A wedding cake signifies two people coming together in love and therefore every wedding cake holds great significance.
A wedding cake is so important that it is more like an occasion. And when a wedding cake is as good as an occasion, it deservers to be beautifully made and decorated. Therefore wedding cakes look different from the usual stuff, they are designed in a way that makes them look fantastic. Some of the designs are such fine work of art, that they redefine excellence.
Flowers, fruits, exotic fruits and human figurines are some of the common decorations used in cakes. They are a part of the icing on the cake and serve as great cake toppings. The outstanding precision in designs make the cakes look so admirable that words fail to appreciate them. My personal favourite is a dark chocolate cake with blood red roses and little white butterflies hovering around the roses.
Such elegantly designed wedding cakes are now available online. You can go to any good online cake shop and go through the designs that they have to offer. If your web site allows you, you can also customise your cake as per your wishes or your wedding theme and have the best cake on your wedding day.
