Wedding centerpiece flowers?

28 Aug

Hi everyone:)
I’m getting married on a very hot summer day; August 7.
My colors are as followed:

Table cloths: Black
Diamond on top of the table cloths: Dark red (think something sort of like this http://photos.bravenet.com/312/858/007/9/9363BF40BA.jpg )
Plates: Gold ( http://www.tucsonweddingsite.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/p1020953.jpg )

I would really love to have real roses as centerpieces (I might end up using fake flowers depending on budget). So lets say I end up going with the real flowers, roses being the main flower (I can mix it up), what color should I use? (I was thinking white but not sure). My bouquet will be pure red and the bridesmaids will use red flowers, I’m still deciding whether or not I’ll use red shoes :)

Do you have any ideas? :)

PS
I know these may not be summer colors, but I’m really not into that. I’m going with what we both like:)

What is a really, really cheap table centerpiece that would be enjoyed by all?

24 Aug

My fiance and I are paying for the majority of our wedding ourselves. We have the menu, venue, etc. figured out. However we are having trouble agreeing on what type of center pieces to have. We have 5 available tables that we want to decorate. I don’t want to go with candles or anything because our wedding is going to be outside. Any unique, spring-like, cheap, romantic, fairy-tale like ideas? Our wedding colors are just about every color of pink and white. Thanks for your help

Blue and Purple Wedding Dress and Centerpiece HELP?

23 Aug

Blue is the main color and purple is the accent color.
1) The ceremony will be deemed with blue and purple lighting with blue and purple flowers but I am wearing a A-line white dress(building it from the fabric up) but I think I should have some blue somewhere, what do you think?

2) Any ideas for a center piece I DONT want to spend like $270,000 on purple and blue roses balls(planners idea) that will die but I know I am getting real amethyst gems to hang from the center pieces that is the only bling aside from the cake monogram toppers and bouquets too much bling is getting played out I have seen it on every episode of Platinum weddings.
Ideas on centerpieces please?

3) The bridesmaid dresses are blue but do you think they should have amethyst jewelry since the wedding colors are blue and purple?

The budget is 2 million SERIOUSLY (really 1.3M is for the wedding, the rest will be spent on jewelry, dresses, tuxedos, gifts for wedding party)
We do have a planner that’s why I was asking about the centerpieces because she says I can have blue and purple rose balls with a long skinny vase with gems hanging but the flowers alone would cost me $270K which is a total waist because flowers die.

What should I use to put my wedding centerpiece on top of?

18 Aug

I’m having a wine & grapes themed wedding, and I’m using decorated wine bottles, wine glass gel candles and a basket filled with real grapes for each table. I was going to use a mirror to put all of these on top of, but I’m only using one candle, so I wonder if anyone has a better idea for all of this. Any help is very much appreciated! Thank you!

help! wedding centerpiece ideas!?

23 May

so, here’s my dilemna. i have bought about 75 candles, and i was planning on putting them in mason jars and dispersing them over out 14 8ft. tables. the wedding is in july on a farm, so we’re doing the whole country theme. our colors are ivory, gold, chocolate, and shades of red. so i got these red candles, and then i discover they are slightly too large to fit in the mason jars! we’re going for an ourdoorsy theme, so we need some new cheap (cheap!) ideas to replace the mason jar and candle idea! preferably something we can do in red, since half of the tableclothes are chocolate and the other half are brown gingham. we thought maybe something with apples…but what? or even an idea to replace the mason jars, because if we don’t put the candles in something they’ll blow out since it’s outside. help!
my grandmother (the wedding’s at her house) suggested cutting down the red candles to fit with a potato peeler or melting down the sides. will this look ridiculous?

Floor vase arrangement for large wedding centerpiece!?

20 May

I needed a large centerpiece for the food table at my wedding. I bought a giant (probably 3 feet tall max) glass vase, but I don’t know what to put in it. I don’t want to use a florist, because it will be too expensive. And, I looked at fake flowers at Michaels and the stems look too short for the vase.

The vase kind of looks like the shortest of these, but clear glass: http://www.decormotif.com/Accents/floor-vase-ceramic.jpg

Any arrangement suggestions?

The top lip has brown satin around it, and I thought about putting foam there and having flowers come out the top. Will that look funny considering the glass is clear and people will clearly notice the lack of stems?

I am using manzanita branches in my table centerpieces. But the stem is too short to go all the way to the bottom of the vase.

Do I fill the vase with something? Thoughts? Help!!

simple but elegant wedding centerpiece ideas?

20 May

For my summer wedding, I am getting married in a beautiful historic barn, and the reception will start with a sit down dinner. The tables are long rectangular “farm tables”. I wanted to decorate them with a long draping table runner, and with a thick row of all different heights of pillar candles. But, I can’t use any candles in the barn, because of fire hazards. I want to keep the theme of a long streamed mix of one single item, over and over in a row down the entire center of the tables. Any ideas on what else I could use that would be as cheap as candles? I don’t want flowers.
