Need Help With Wedding Colors And Help With Invitations?

26 Nov

My husband and I are renewing our wedding vows June 2009. It’s going to be an evening wedding. I’m having a hard time deciding between deep orange and cranberry red (warm) or royal blue and bright yellow. I want my wedding set the mood for something positive, happy, warm. My flowers, invitations, and center pieces will reflect the color I chose. HELP!
Second questions is I want to make my own invitations and save the date magnets (save money) but am having a hard time finding the material. Do you know of any online stores where I can order the material? Thank you for all your help

Sorry to be harsh, but you are not having a wedding. A wedding is the ceremony and celebration that occurs when a MARRIAGE is taking place. You aren’t getting married, you are already married.
By all means, reaffirm your commitment by repeating your marriage vows in front of people who are dear to you. By all means, have a splendid party to celebrate doing so. But don’t try to have another wedding. People will interpret this as fishing for gifts and see your actions as silly and greedy.

I like the deep orange and cranberry red for the colors. With those you will really pick up on the positive and warm vibe. Have you thought about having random splashes of yellow here and there? This could add a nice happy vibe without overwhelming with yellow.
You can get the materials for the invitations and save the dates from many places. Michaels.com, joann.com, walmart.com, partyplus.com, partycity.com
All of those should give you a variety of materials.

For the colors, I think the orange and red sounds like a fall wedding. But I still prefer that combination over the blue and yellow combo.
Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, and other craft stores carry save the date and invitation kits and they also sell magnet. One side is sticky and the other is the magnet so you can make your own magnets.

I think the royal blue and yellow will work perfectly for a June wedding. I agree that deep orange and cranberry, which it’s a lovely combo, would probably be better for an autumn wedding.
I don’t know any online stores off the top of my head, but once I Googled “handmade invitations” or something to that effect and got lots of results. You should try that!
    Good luck!

ok i’m confused you and your hubby are renewing your wedding vows yet you are talking about a wedding!
no matter how much you dress it up with invitations, flowers, centerpieces, etc. this isn’t a wedding! its just a vow renewal ceremony – nothing more. you’ve had your wedding – let it go.
your colors are very rich and deep – i’d go with the blue and yellow – orange and red are too autumn!

If its in June I’d stick to the blue and yellow, the cranberry & orange is more of an autumn scheme.
Blue & yellow can be very fresh and happy.

To answer the second question. Check with a local sign shop or sign supplies online for magnetic material, its the same used for truck doors.
You will have to cut it but a good sharp utility knife and a metal straightedge will do the trick.
Then go to the office supply store and get some clear LASER labels. Print them with the laser printer so they are more permanente.
Just stick thelabelss on the magnetic material and presto.
As far as invitations go to the office supply store and pick out some nice paper. You may have to go to a specialty local office store, not staples or office max. The local store can fill the order for special paper.
If you are planing a Juneceremonyy why not send out some seed favors as save the date? They don,t stick to thefridgee but the recipients will remember them.
Here are some step by stepinstructionss and video showing how.http://www.theweddingdept.com/seed_weddi…

Go with the royal blue and yellow, it conveys a much happier, lighter tone than the orange and red (which, like the other answerers said, are very autumn colors).
For save the date magnets, try this website: http://www.123print.com I know you said you wanted to make them yourself, but I ordered 25 large Save the Date magnets from there for my upcoming wedding and it only cost me $30! You can get smaller ones (about the size of a business card) for $15 or so for 25, cheaper for larger quantities. It won’t be cheaper to make them yourself, and they come out wonderful, you can even design different templates and stuff.
For handmade invitations, try Michael’s craft stores. They have bridal kits that don’t necessarily say “wedding” on them, so you should be able to use them for your vow renewal.
Good luck and congratulations on renewing your wedding vows! =)
