Is It Okay To Get Flowers For Wedding The Day Before?
I am planning on making my own bouquet for my wedding. I am planning on using red roses. Can I make the bouquet the day before and keep in the fridge until the next morning? Or will they wilt?
I plan on making the bouquet in the afternoon of the day before the wedding. I am getting married at 7am the next day.
Any advice is appreciated. Thank You.
I had my flowers delivered the day before because I got married on a Sunday and the florist was closed on a sunday. They were delivered on a Saturday afternoon (cream roses, violet orchids and soft pink lillies). The florist knew I wasn’t getting married until 2pm the next day so she packaged them to last. I stored them in a cool dark room in a basement until the next day and they turned out fine. I’m not sure though perhaps the florist prepared them specially as she knew about the time wait.

Have them arrive 2 days prior to the wedding….not just the day before. Then, unwrap, cut the stems a bit, put in a bucket with rose food and leave in a cool place…but not your fridge.

Also, they should not be mixed in where you have food! I did this with centerpieces for my son’s wedding and they lasted a long time.
I have some roses right now in my living room in a vase and they are still nice after 4 days.
They will keep over night just fine, I do suggest asking the florist for care details specifically for your arrangement, but at the basics I offer you this: Put them in lukewarm water before putting them in the fridge, and make sure they aren’t crouched underneath any other shelves. I work in a floral shop and the way we care for roses is to do this, as well as cut an inch off of the stem at a slant so that they are able to soak up the water easier and, depending on how bloomed they are, they last a couple of weeks this way so I am sure you will be fine over night.
February 5, 2010 2:31 am | #3I got married on friday and i made all my bouquets the day of the wedding. I bought the flowers at 8 am, put them together and put them in the fridge. The did well…the only thing i forgot to do was put them in water before i put them in the fridge so they were a little limp at 6pm. Dont forget the water and the should be fine! Good luck!
