Well, it depends on how tropical you want to go.
September 7, 2009 1:53 pm | #1You could go with red, and have them wear more sundress-like dresses in a hawaiian print, something like this:http://ny-image1.etsy.com/il_430xN.39431…
Or you can go simple, traditional red…which still works on the beach:http://www.truebride.com.au/images/bride…
As for other colors:
sunshiny gold
black (lighten it up by making it a casual fabric)
silvery/platinum
beige/champagne
Just don’t do green. You don’t want to have a Christmas wedding
Great theme!
September 7, 2009 2:08 pm | #2I love the idea of a nice tropical orange color…BUT, a LOT of people don’t like to wear orange, as it’s a hard color to pull off. Run it by your bridesmaids and see how they feel about the color…
A few color scheme ideas:
-Tropical blue dresses, with red and orange flowers.
-Purple dresses (dark or light) with red and orange flowers.
-A light hue of red for the dress, with orange detailing or an orange sash around the waist, flower color of choice ( I would go with orange and yellow)
-A light color of orange or just white, with some tropical flower detailing, flower color of choice
Basically, I think any bright, fun and carefree color will work for a tropical theme. Or, you can always go with a neutral color and add the tropical details with accesories like flowers and sashes!
Good luck!
i think yellow would look really great with red.
September 7, 2009 2:35 pm | #3green and red are complimentary colors, so I would go with a lite green…still very tropical. http://www.elizabethannedesigns.com/blog…http://www.katieelfers.com/Blog/uploaded…http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JzBPWwKgca4/SQ…
September 7, 2009 3:00 pm | #4What about their gowns being a turquoise or caribbean blue color with red accents. I know that sounds like an odd color combo – but I’ve seen it together and it looks really nice. You could then add an accent color of like yellowy gold or brown color.
September 7, 2009 3:16 pm | #5You could always do different bright colors. My mom did pastel rainbow colors for her wedding. Why not do several different colors? Perhaps one yellow, one orange, just bright colors like that? Just a thought
congrats and good luck!
September 7, 2009 3:52 pm | #6Depending on the shade of red, bridesmaids could wear red, or yellow, orange, or even a teal/turquoise color would look pretty and tropical.
September 7, 2009 4:45 pm | #7yellow and thier flowers add a little red in them. Better yet go with a tropical soft print in thier dresses. Beachweddings.com look at apparel and hawaiian dresses
September 7, 2009 5:24 pm | #8I really like the idea of using yellow. Yellow looks so good next to red, and the yellow will still seem tropical and will go great with pretty much any flower you choose! Congrats!
September 7, 2009 5:51 pm | #9Pink something like a pink lemonade something you want to wear at the beach party in a hawian vaction
September 7, 2009 6:45 pm | #10I would get them deep orange color dresses, making sure, their hue matches the red of your dress.
September 7, 2009 7:33 pm | #11I think that yellow would be all right with red.
September 7, 2009 8:00 pm | #12orange or yellow are what first come to mind as tropial and go well with red.
