I would go with something cool yet simple, with a beachy or hawai’in theme, such as a candle, with shells or a habiscus flower attached to the candle.

put disposable cameras on the tables for guests to use. then you’ll have pictures of the receptions you wouldn’t think of having before. it’s real fun to see what turns out. also little bells with the bride and grooms name on it. when you walk into the reception, everyone rings them. the kids like this one.

We’re from down in Louisiana…and most people around here do KOOZIES and personalize them…that way when beer is served the bartenders just stick the beer in a KOOZIE and it’s a great keepsake!

Mini pictures of you and and your husband in flower frames are cute…we had those at my wedding. And maybe you choose a main color, and your husband chooses a different main color, and make your husband’s family dress in your color and vice versa. And you can tie bunches of flowers in those two colors together and pin them up everywhere.

I like the new trend of the candy bar. Give your guests nice take out boxes and let them load up their own box at the candy “bar” and take it home.

Go to m&ms.com. I ordered personalized M&M’s with our name on them, and in our wedding colors! Everyone raved about them!
We also had wedding bell pencils with our name made at orientaltrading.com.

I second the idea of disposable cameras. You can get them with different designs that will go with any wedding theme, not just the boring pastel colored ones. My favorite is the one with a bride and groom on the front but you can also get them with wedding words or celebration words (which could be used for other types of parties as well).

Another cool idea is to use disposable cameras at your bridal shower and rehearsal dinner, not just the reception. That way you can share your photos with friends and family who are not able to attend these events. Afterwards, you can create an album with tons of candid photos!

http://www.kustomkoozies.com do can coolers…or koozies as they call them. you can get all your wedding info put on them (names &date) for the guests and in a bumch of different colours. I think it would be cool if you take 2 colours from your wedding, get the koozies in one colour and then put in a can of pop that matches with the other colour. (say coke if you have red, pepsi if you have blue, cream soda if you have pink…) That way they get to keep something they will actually use and they get the can of pop just to fill it out and make it look better. I think that its an awesome alternative to some favours people just throw out and you spend money on it. Good luck with the wedding!

Pine tree saplings ! You can quite often even get them free from the National Arbor Day Foundation (if you ask nice !) They’re practical, can enhance the decor, and is something useful. They generally come very small, and you can make them a bit cuter by putting a bow on the top of them, or wrapping tulle around the bottom.

An added bonus: Pine branches are traditionally used by the Dutch to help bring blessings to the marriage. There is a lot of traditional cool meaning to it. Good luck !

I’m getting married in the winter, and we are doing ice scrapers with a snowflake printed on it. With a tag that will say “In good times, and in bad”

after dinner mints in tulle bags, cookies with the last name you will change to, if you have people who are coming from out of town and you are serving a type of food they have never had why don’t you do recipe cards with some of the spices the recipe calls for, tea bags, flower seeds. These are a few ideas I came up with and also saw. I personally don’t like the idea of giving my guests favors with our names and wedding date on them just because why would someone want our names and dates on their favor we will give them? that is just my personal opinion.

When I got married this past January, I gave everyone CD of our favorite love songs, and bags of candy that had buttermints that said, “thanks for sharing our special day”. As well, before the wedding (we got married in Vegas), I made books at Kinkos which was a gift from us with things to do in Las Vegas.

A unique favor I did for myself to put in my scrapbook was I put postcards on the tables at the reception — which were addressed to us and had postage and I asked everyone to take a card and tell us about the week they spent in Las Vegas and how much fun they had — it was so great to get those when we got back from the wedding.

Anything edible goes over really well.
What do you do with some of the stuff you get at weddings?
I have a drawer full of useless stuff.

I’m a baker/cake decorator so for my Dragonfly themed wedding
I baked dragonfly cookies and decorated them with purple icing(My colors were purple and white).

Put them in cello bags and tied with white ribbon and a hang tag.

Some of them made it home with the guests, but most got eaten
    during the reception.

    They were a big hit!

It seems like all of the wedding favor sites carry the same stuff. I like this site http://www.weddingstylefavors.com. They have a little bit of everything and some cute DIY ideas.
