The cake I want for my wedding has real red roses around the tiers, The woman that is doing says that’s this would be a sanitary issue, with pesticides.Ive seen many of pictures on line with roses in wedding cakes , is there a square tower I need or can I put the roses on the cake .. Without making my family all sick..lol I thought roses were edible?

Of course you can put roses on your cake. They need to be washed thoroughly, but I’ve seen this done as well. I think maybe they can put wax or parchment paper on the cake only where the roses would go, then lay the roses on top of that if you think there would be a sanitary issue.
Or, you can go for edible flowers. I’m not sure if roses are edible and if so, which types. But, your cake will certainly look pretty!

Certainly.
You can even crystallize them with sugar. Roses are edible. And while no one is going to eat an entire rose, you could crystallize some petals. Find the mix on google. Its easy to make, and then you brush it on and freeze the roses until you need them
or just stick on fresh roses. People will eat around them

Even if there are pesticides on the flowers, it will be trace amounts. certainly not enough to hurt anyone. People put them up to their face and inhale to smell them all the time. I think there would be lots of issues around the country/world wide if they were making people sick.
That being said, I’ve never heard of anyone actually eating the flowers if they were real. I think most people know to take them off.. or whoever you hire to cut the cake after everyone looks at it won’t serve pieces with huge roses on them..

Of course you can put roses on a wedding cake and you can eat them too- they are not the only edible flower. This is not a sanitary issue, as flowers on cakes has been done for centuries.

Almost all cakes have flowers or roses on them these days. I don’t know why she would say no.

I had real roses and orchids on my wedding cake, and it was just fine. They were removed before the cake was cut, and I’m sure they were probably washed or something. No one got sick and the cake was beautiful!

It is advised that if you use live flowers on your wedding cake that they be safe, edible flowers and organic and pesticide-free . Usually, a florist will provide such flowers for your cake. Personally, I didn’t take any chances and purchased some sugar paste flowers online instead. Parchment fowers or silk flowers are also a good choice for cakes.
Also, real flowers can be messy, expensive and must be preserved. Silk flowers are a great alternative, as they are inexpensive, easy to store and transport, and look just as lovely. The bonus is that these options will not wilt or fall apart.
