Beach theme wedding bridesmaid dress?

04 Mar

So I am going with aqua blue, sand, and white for my beach theme wedding. I want my bridesmaid & MOH to have long flowy dresses like the ocean. I think I want a little train on their dresses. If anyone can show me some ideas, or links, or anything it would be greatly appreciated. Remember flowy and I need it to look ok on both skinny and thick girls. Thank you.

Generally, the best idea when you have girls with different body types and ages is to choose a fabric, color, or color scheme. That way, eveyone will match, but they can choose different patterns or dress styles to suit their individual body types. Many stores offer groups of dresses that coordinate without “matching”.

the best material for long, flowy and beach weather is chiffon. Keep that in mind. Silk is good too, but much more costly.

You can choose the color, then have that color in different styles that suit each bridesmaid’s body type. I’ve seen it done, they recommend it — and it looks great, breaks up the same style going on for the whole party. Check out on davidsbridal.com:
Something like this with the empire waist and flowy skirt could work:

Or gowns that have this angled bottom look great for your theme:

Or here’s another idea that’d be classic and beautiful for a beach theme:
Do white sheath dresses for the bridesmaids — they flatter every figure:

They’re simple, classy, and then you could choose colorful bouquets in the blues and greens. Think of how that would all tie in, and yet you’ll still be in your bridal gown — the standout, and you may choose to do all white flowers for yourself.
Or they could be in white dresses with blue sashes. That’d be pretty, too. I’m just wondering if the aqua dresses would be too overwhelming a color and take attention away from YOU.

This is my fav beach dress. It is at Davids so it is affordable. The dress is one that after the wedding can be worn again…I would shorten it to a tea length and wear it to another summer wedding as a guest. That is always a bonus with me when it comes to maids. I think it is very cute too on both sizes. Good luck.

All of these dresses would work on thin and plus size girls. They are all tight in the bust and flow out – an A line shape, which is universally flattering. The last one is my favorite for a beach wedding – kind of has a train, but it won’t be full of sand. Good luck!
