I just found out (30 days before my wedding) that I have to have liability insurance for 100,000 per person and 100,000 against damages according to my venue. Has anyone heard of this before? And if so do you know a reputable company to get it through. They are recommending I use www.wedsure.com but I dont have internet explorer and cant get it to download so I cant apply for their insurance.
Help!!!

I personally have never heard of this before but you should question why you are being told this now and not when you signed your contract

I’ve heard of this. Many times, they will let you get away with simply hiring a caterer that carries it, so make sure you ask about that possibility. Its a temporary type insurance policy that normally you pay a flat fee for and it only lasts until like the day after the event. If you own a home, you can add it on to your homeowners insurance depending on who you have insurance with. Sometimes, if you rent, you can also get it through your renters insurance. I would reccomend checking with whatever insurance companies you already use first, as they may be able to offer you a special rate for being a customer already. Check the contract you signed with your venue and make sure this is in writing in the contract that you have to carry it. Not very cool that you didn’t know until a month before. Other than that, I also found these websites: Careful though. Most of them offer not only liability insurance but cancelation coverage as well, so make sure you know what you’re buying. Read each policy carefully to make sure it meets your needs.

I do know of 1 place around here the does that. It is an old historical lovely place, and they want to ensure it is in the sam e condition after the event as it was beforehand.

First of all, this should have been in your contract. If it’s not, then it’s not your fault and you don’t need to do anything but point this out to them.
Usually liability insurance is what your caterer needs to work at your venue. Ask your caterer about this, they need it to be able to work anywhere, and it should be in your contract with your caterer. If you are serving your own alcohol, then you would need to provide insurance, and it’s usually under $200 for this coverage. Your venue should provide you with this information, and like I said, make sure you go look over your contract to see if this is in there.
Wedsure is insurance that protects you if something were to happen, like your wedding dress doesn’t get delivered or your musicians don’t show up. This is NEVER required since it’s insurance that protects you, not the venue.

Some of my couples have used wedsafe.com but I have never heard of a hall making the couple have insurance, only the vendors. Are you sure they don’t mean your vendors?

the place me and my fiance rented for our wedding next years had us give them a fee of around 50 bucks for 150 people. we have to pay it 30 days before our wedding too. the way my future mil put it, its to help the place pay for there insurance. since the gardens we are getting married at is busy all the time for weddings, it pretty much pays for there monthly insurance bill. i hope i didnt confuse you! congrats!!!!
